SF - The Power of Bringing Joy to Others

Dedicated in loving memory of Shalom Yoseph ben Leiba Zlotta

The Invaluable Power of Bringing Joy to Others

Yaacov blessed Yehudah with the words, "A smile is greater than milk." This conveys the ideal that bringing a smile to your friends lips is more beneficial than giving him a glass of milk." In other words, bringing joy to your fellow is more important and more worthy than any material pleasure that you grant to him. In this light, the Vilna Gaon said, "The majority of the Torah and its fulfillment is rooted in the principle of bringing joy to other people.

Lesson: Just as the body needs to be nourished, the spirit -- even more so -- needs to be nurtured and encouraged. The purpose of most of the Torah and its Mitzvos is to bring joy and happiness to our fellow man.

Visualization: Envision being in the presence of Avraham Avinu. Imagine his smiling, glowing, and friendly countenance. See him greeting you with welcoming words, happiness at seeing you, and great love. Experience a great inner joy, confidence, and inner peace. Notice the glowing smile that has formed on your lips. Internalize Avraham's love to your heart, and bring joy to everyone.

Sabedoria para o Crescimento Pessoal

À  LUZ  DO  MUSSÁR

SF - The Desire of HaShem

The Desire of HaShem

In the entire Torah there is just one reference to HaShem "desiring" something. What is it that HaShem desires? Our holy Sages reveal, "HaShem desires the prayers of the righteous!" When a good person endures hardship, HaShem longs for his heartfelt prayers. Just as food has taste, so too, the prayers of righteous have "taste." Meaning, when the tzadikim pray, they sense the mercy, love, and kindness of HaShem. HaShem desires the prayers of the righteous because their prayers  are rich with the joy of knowing HaShem's infinite goodness.

Lesson: Prayer is an opportunity to express our belief in HaShem and to experience the joy of coming close to Him. The more we sense the holiness of HaShem through our prayers, the more HaShem desires our prayers.

App: When you have a challenge in life, remind yourself that HaShem wants nothing more than your heartfelt prayer. Pray immediately to HaShem before taking any action. Know that HaShem, your Merciful Father, listens attentively to every word of your prayer.

SF - The Excellence of Trust

The Excellence of Trust

"Trust in HaShem with all your heart and do not rely on your wit."
(Mishlie 3:5)

The joy of trust in HaShem occurs when we fully trust HaShem with all of our heart, with no doubts, whatsoever. There are two distinct advantages to total trust in HaShem. Firstly, we enjoy peace of mind because we are positive that HaShem will help us. Secondly, even if we are lacking something, we will not be distressed because we trust that HaShem will provide. Indeed our unwavering trust will ultimately result in HaShem's sweetest blessings, redemption, and success.

Lesson:  HaShem, the Creator of Heaven and earth, is the Source of life and the Root of all success. Therefore, when we place our heartfelt trust in HaShem, it is certain He will ultimately grant us all of our needs.

App: Strengthen your trust in HaShem a little more each day by reviewing the verse, "Trust in HaShem with all your heart." Increase your joy of life because whoever has trust in HaShem, has everything!
