       O que quer dizer a expressão: "Um pouco contém muito"? Ensinou o Saba de Kelm: existem algumas coisas na vida que produzem um poderoso benefício a partir de pequenas doses. Um desses 'pequenos dínamos' é o encorajamento.

Por exemplo, quando o Todo-Poderoso nomeou Yehoshua para suceder Moshe como o líder do Povo de Israel, Moshe disse-lhe: "Seja forte e corajoso". Yehoshua era o melhor aluno de Moshe e também profeta. Mesmo assim, Moshe reconheceu a importância de incentivá-lo. As palavras de Moshe fortaleceram Yehoshua e ele conseguiu trazer o povo de Israel para a Terra de Israel.

Outro exemplo: quando o Povo de Israel envolveu-se em promiscuidade com as mulheres midianitas, todos os líderes ficaram num estado de desamparo. Pinchas filho de Elazar fortaleceu-se e encontrou a coragem de se levantar e se opor à imoralidade. Se não fosse por sua ação, toda a nação teria perecido. Portanto, o "pouco" de esforço produziu "muito": seu heroísmo salvou toda a nação de Israel.

       O encorajamento também pode ser efetivamente aplicado a nós mesmos. Incentive a si próprio e encoraje um amigo na prática de boas ações, no aprimoramento do caráter e no estudo da Torá.

       Lembremo-nos: um "pouco" de encorajamento é um catalisador tão forte que seguramente trará "muita" sabedoria, alegrias e salvações!

A Mishná (Pirkei Avót 5:22) ensina que o caráter do profeta Bilam era definido por três características negativas: um olhar maligno, um espírito arrogante e uma alma gananciosa.

 

Contudo, independentemente destas falhas, Bilam falsamente achava que estava seguindo no caminho certo. Por exemplo, ele disse aos emissários do rei que queria contratá-lo para amaldiçoar os israelitas: "Mesmo se o rei Balak me desse o seu palácio cheio de prata e ouro, eu não poderia transgredir a palavra do Todo-Poderoso (Bamidbar 22: 18)". Se ele se esforçava para cumprir a Vontade Divina, que falha interna provocou que acabasse violando a ordem explícita de D'us de não amaldiçoar o Povo de Israel?

 

O Midrash relata a seguinte declaração que o profeta Bilam fez ao rei Balak: "Nós dois somos ingratos por tentarmos prejudicar o Povo de Israel. Eu não existiria se não fosse por seu patriarca Avraham (Abraão), pois sou descendente de Lot (o sobrinho de Avraham) – cuja vida foi poupada pelo mérito de Avraham quando Sodoma foi destruída. Também você, Balak, não existiria se não fosse por seu patriarca Yaacov (Jacob), pois você descende de Lavan (o cunhado de Yaacov) - e Lavan só foi abençoado com filhos pelo mérito de Yaacov".

 

Bilam percebeu sozinho que a sua ingratidão era imoral, mas lhe faltava a força moral para implementar a verdade de suas convicções.

 

O sentimento de gratidão deve superar todas as outras considerações. Ele é gerado através de uma reflexão consistente e sólida e suas vantagens são óbvias!

 

Intensifiquemos a nossa gratidão por alguém que nos ajudou no passado e colhamos muitos frutos positivos!

It is as if HaShem is saying, "I will come into your house." Yet, it seems the very opposite takes place, i.e., we go to His house. The answer to this mystery is the secret of man's purpose. After the creation of the world, HaShem charged Klal Yisrael with the privilege of bringing the blessing of HaShem into the world, through the fulfillment of His Mitzvos. It is as if, HaShem relies upon us to increase His Presence in the world.
