The Power of Transformation

Life Changing Insight Rabbi Akiva abandoned his Torah studies because he did not feel he was progressing. He sat by a well and noticed a rock in which water had carved a hole. Rabbi Akiva reasoned, "If water which is soft can carve into rock which is hard, surely Torah which is hard will penetrate my heart which is made out of flesh." Rabbi Akiva understood that every word of Torah imperceptibly sanctifies, heals, illuminates, and revitalized his soul. This insight inspired him to return to the Torah study in the Yeshiva and reach the greatest spiritual heights. Lesson: Just as erosion is an imperceptible but definite process, so too, each word of Torah unconsciously purifies and elevates the Torah student.        O profeta Miha (7:20) nos relata sobre a gentileza e atos de bondade praticados por nosso patriarca Avraham (Abraão).

 

       Nosso patriarca Avraham relacionava-se com todas as pessoas com compaixão e bondade. Mesmo quando alguém o tratava inadequadamente, ele sobrepujava a natureza humana de reagir "na mesma moeda" e respondia com paciência e sem rancor. Medida por medida, da mesma maneira que não levava para o lado pessoal as falhas dos outros, a bondade do Criador desconsiderava as imperfeições de Avraham.

 

       Quando tratamos os outros com compaixão e paciência, despertamos a compaixão do Todo-Poderoso sobre nós, nossa comunidade e o Povo de Israel.

 

       Se alguém o(a) ofendeu ou magoou, pare um momento para recuperar a compostura -- e desperte a compaixão e interesse do Criador sobre você e toda a humanidade!

The Love of Yaacov and Rachel When Yaacov Avinu saw his wife-to-be, Rachel, for the first time, he began to cry. His sadness was awakened because he prophesied that she would not be buried next to him. Why was he so distraught over not being near his wife after they were no longer alive in this world? Our Patriarchs love for their wives was awakened by the spiritual beauty of their wives. In light of this, Yaacov cried upon realizing that ultimately he would be eternally separated from the radiant holiness of Rachel's soul. Lesson: Yaacov's love for Rachel was ignited by the great spiritual goodness of her being. His love for Rachel spanned to eternity.   App: Strive to see the inner beauty of your loved ones and friends. Love them for their holiness and goodness -- their true spiritual essence. SF - The Wisdom of Unconditional Love

The Root of Interpersonal Relationships

Dedicated to Refuah Shleimah for Rav Mordecai ben Roni The Wisdom of Unconditional Love The verse, "Yitzchak loved Eisav," is counterintuitive. It implies that Yitzchak loved Eisav, his wayward son and makes no mention of his love for Yaacov, his righteous son. Yitzchak realized that since Eisav's nature was so wild, he would rebel if he disciplined him. Therefore, "Yitzchak loved Eisav," meaning that he wisely chose to give his son unconditional love. Yitzchak hoped that the love and honor that  he granted to his son, would eventually seep into Eisav's heart and stir him to rectify his conduct.  Lesson: In the end of days, all of our great ancestors will plead for the deliverance of Klal Yisrael. However, HaShem will not accept their prayers. Finally, Yitzchak will come before HaShem and say, "Save my people, on the merit of the unconditional love that I gave to my son, Eisav." HaShem responds, "I will have mercy on Klal Yisrael, just as you had mercy on your son, Eisav."    Visualization: Envision Yitzchak overlooking Eisav's shortcomings and giving his son unconditional love. Hear HaShem tell Yitzchak, "I will have mercy on your descendants on the merit of the mercy and love that you showed to Eisav." The blue sky above, the light of the glorious sun, the fruit bearing trees, the wonder of intelligent man, etc., all demonstrate that HaShem created the universe. However, familiarity with the world from our infancy diminishes the impact of this perception. The special quality of the Beis HaMikdash was that it renewed our spiritual awareness to recognize the presence of HaSHem in His beautiful world.   Lesson: The Beis HaMikdash was a microcosm of the world. The holiness that permeated the Sanctuary opened our senses to experience the Living Creator. App: Envision that you enter the Beis HaMikdash filled with the Light of HaShem.  Allow the perception of HaShem's holy presence to permeate your being and fill your soul with joy.
