HaShem Dwells Among Us \ Teachings of The Holy Alshich D'var Torah: "My soul cleaves towards You; Your right hand supports me" (Tehillim 63:9). This verse reveals a fascinating dynamic between the body and the soul. The soul is in a constant state of flux. At every given moment the holy soul looks at its existence in the material body, and desires to escape its earthly confines. Nevertheless, just as the soul is about to return to Heaven, it notices that the "whole earth is filled with the Splendor of HaShem." The presence of HaShem upon the earth comforts the soul, encouraging her to reverse her course and stay within the body. In this light the verse says, "My soul cleaves towards You" -- the soul seeks to leave the body and return to its spiritual source. "Your right hand supports me" -- Your intense closeness here on earth, gives me the support to remain here in this material dimension. Moral Lesson: The Holy Presence of HaShem upon the earth is so pervasive and powerful, that it suffices to encourage the soul to stay within body.
Application: Envision your soul seeing the material nature of your body and yearning to return to its spiritual source. Just as the soul is about to propel itself to Heaven, it perceives the radiant Presence of HaShem that spreads over the entire earth. The great Holiness of the Shechinah comforts the soul, and influences the soul to reconsider its return to its roots. Expand your awareness that the Splendor of HaShem upon the earth is so powerful that it suffices to provide a holy environment for the soul to thrive.
