D'var Torah: "For now, I could have sent My hand and stricken you and your people with a plague, and you would have been obliterated from the earth" (Shemot 9:15). These fiery words convey an ominous warning to Pharoah. "For now," implies that HaShem has the power to annihilate Egypt in an instant. We might wonder, after some 2,000 years of a very difficult exile, how could we expect a sudden redemption? The above verse expresses a resounding response to this concern! HaShem, the Master of the universe, is all-powerful. In a split second, HaShem will bring the light of redemption and neutralize all the enemies of Israel. HaShem's love of Klal Yisrael and His supreme dominion makes it very clear that HaShem can deliver us this very second.
Moral: Our long exile is no reason to entertain doubt in our faith. Be encouraged by knowing that HaShem has the power to save us from all of our troubles instantaneously.
Application: Review the verse, "For now, I could have sent My hand and stricken you and your people with a plague, and you would have been obliterated from the earth."
