SF - The Good Power of Encouragement

"And command Yehoshuah, and strengthen him and encourage him for he will pass in front of this people and cause them to inherit the land” (Devarim 3:28). Moshe Rabenu, the Father of all the Prophets, was a living fountain of ever-flowing wisdom and Torah knowledge. Yehoshuah bin Nun was Moshe Rabenu’s attendant and primary disciple. Yet, compared to Moshe Rabenu, Yehoshuah bin Nun was like the moon compared to the sun. Nevertheless, HaShem chose Yehoshuah to assume the mantle of leadership after the demise of Moshe Rabenu. HaShem instructed Moshe Rabenu to encourage Yehoshuah bin Nun, i.e., “strengthen and encourage him.” Moshe’s support uplifted Yehoshuah’s status and confidence, both in his own eyes, as well as in the eyes of Klal Yisrael.

We learn an invaluable lesson from this event: every person needs encouragement! Indeed, the proper dose of support empowers a person to succeed in all of his endeavours.

Observe the people in your iife -- family members, friends, etc. Be aware that just as a plant requires water to grow, each person requires encouragement to succeed in life. Reflect on the most effective words and ways to strengthen their self-confidence. Express your belief to your friend in his abilities to succeed. Encourage them and let them know how much you love them, and ignite their soul with the power of success.
