SF - The Criteria of Leadership \ King David

The Criteria of Leadership \ King David

""David ben Yishai will certainly have compassion on My children and lead them with goodness and helpfulness."

D'var Torah: What would you say is the single most important trait required for a Jewish leader? King David was a shepherd when he was a young man. It was his practice to carry the sheep on his shoulders when he took them to drink from the stream or graze in the meadow. HaShem was very pleased with David's tender care for the sheep. He saw that David had the sensitivity to be a good leader for Klal Yisrael. In this light, HaShem said: "David will certainly have compassion on My children and lead them with goodness and helpfulness."

Moral: Compassion is the most important criteria for a Jewish leader.

Application: (1) Take a few minutes to open your heart with compassion and care for all of HaShem's creations. (2) Reflect on the people in your life, and awaken your compassion, sensitivity, and love for them. (3) Take specific actions to help, encourage, and uplift them.
