HaShem's Special Gift For You \ Sefat Emet D'var Torah: "May HaShem send your help from holiness, and may He strengthen you from Zion" (Tehillim 20). This Psalm holds a deep secret concerning the attainment of our personal holiness. The verse starts by saying, "May HaShem send your help from holiness." It seems more accurate to say, "May HaShem send His help from holiness." Rather, the verse states "your help" to reveal a precious lesson. "May He send your help from holiness" implies that HaShem helps each individual person to sanctify and elevate himself. Therefore, the "May HaShem send your help from holiness, implies that HaShem grants eacb one of us a special portion of holiness, i.e., "your help." When does HaShem grant us His gift of holiness? On each and every Shabbat, HaShem illuminates every Jewish person with a "Nishama Yeteira," an additional dimension of holiness that elevates and sanctifies our heart and soul. Moral: The six days of creation correspond to the natural laws of the universe. Whereas, the holiness of Shabbat is above the natural laws. Shabbat brings the power of renewal to the entire creation, by connecting every member of Klal Yisrael to HaShem, the holy Creator. Application: Say the verse aloud, "May HaShem send your help from holiness, and may He strengthen you from Zion." Sense the extra dimension of holiness that HaShem grants especially to you on Shabbat. Reflect on the wonder that HaShem sanctifies you on Shabbat. Enjoy your "Nishama Yeteira," and experience new vistas of holiness, happiness, and closeness to HaShem. (Based on the commentary of the S'fat Emet to the Torah ) The Salant Foundation is currently looking for a Shul or community to partner with us in sharing the merit of the unique and important Salant Kollel. There are practical and easy ways (such as adoptakollel.org) to create a special mutual relationship between the Kollel and a Shul or community. If you think your Shul or community or workplace might want to participate in supporting the Salant Kollel, please contact Rabbi Zvi Miller at salantorg@gmail.com, and we will discuss how to implement your idea. Thank you! |
