The Awakening of Love
"And all the families of the land will bless your name." HaShem revealed to Avraham, that ultimately Avraham would emerge as the spiritual father of all mankind. He would be so beloved and admired that all fathers will bless their sons, "May you be like Avraham."
Before the light of Avraham illuminated the hearts of mankind, the world was comprised of different factions of nations and individuals vying for power. Even the family unit was not founded on love and nurturing. Rather man and woman joined in a collective effort, because partnership offered a better chance for survival. The goodness of Avraham awakened love in the hearts of mankind. In fact, the very nature of existence transformed. His kindness inspired the people of the world to care for each other. They became friends, neighbors, and loving families. Avraham Avinu's precious attributes of love and kindness, and the establishment of the loving family, is alluded to in the verse, "All the families of the land will bless your name."
Lesson: The influence of one person who sincerely loves his fellow man, has the power to stimulate love in the hearts of all mankind.
