SF - See the Good in Every Person

See the Good in Every Person

In the days of King Yeravom ben Yoash, HaShem mercifully granted victory to Klal Yisrael over an invading army, even though many people  in Klal Yisrael were actively practicing idol-worship. If they were spiritually wayward and unrepentant, why did HaShem show them mercy? HaShem has the
merciful attribute of "He does not hold his wrath forever." Even if a person is stubbornly unrepentant, HaShem shows him mercy and relieves him of his suffering. He hopes by showing him undeserved mercy and kindness -- perhaps, the person will be moved to repentance!

Lesson:  Emulate HaShem by showing mercy to people who have offended you. Draw them close to you with love. Maybe, your graciousness will inspire them to improve their ways.

Visualization: Envision how Yitzchak Avinu loved Esav, his son, even though Esav was an idol worshipper, adulterer, and murderer. Yitzchak knew that Esav had a holy soul. He believed in his son's potential to turn his life around and become a tzadik. See Yitzchak overlooking Esav's flaws and treating him with honor and love. Strengthen the love in your heart for those who fall short of Torah observance, or who are morally deficient. Befriend them and honor them, hoping to inspire them to choose goodness.
