The Joy of Prayer When Yitzchak Avinu prayed for his wife, Rivka, to have a child, "he prayed with the joy of a wealthy man who had every blessing." Yet, since Rivka was childless for twenty years, surely they endured much distress? If so, why did Yitzchak feel so blessed? Lesson: Prayer parts the "veil of nature" to help us see the kindness of HaShem that unceasingly flows into our lives. The more Yitzchak prayed for a child, the more he recognized the gift of his own existence. His heartfelt prayers helped him to recognize the endless goodness of HaShem that flowed upon him and upon all of His creations.
App: Envision prayer as a lens that reveals the wondrous kindness of HaShem, your Creator and merciful Father. Increase your joy and love of HaShem with each additional moment of prayer.
