SF - Boundless Love \ Tomer Devorah

Boundless Love \ Tomer Devorah

D'var Torah: "Love your friend as you love yourself" (Vayikra 19:18). The Torah envisions a beautiful world of sincere care for every human being. Even more, the verse inspires us to love our friends with the same measure of love that we naturally hold for ourselves. The holy Tomer Devorah reveals the secret of how to detach from  the bonds of human nature so that we are free to love others without boundaries or conditions. Amazingly, Klal Yisrael exists in heaven as one great super soul. Once we attain the awareness that we are all connected like one family, we immediately realize that every other person is as infinitely precious as our own brother or sister. The combined goodness of every member of Klal Yisrael makes us beloved to HaShem. Indeed every one of our fellow Jews is as beloved and cherished, as is our own family.

Moral: Every fellow member of Klal Yisrael is like one of the many invaluable diamonds that collectively form the crown of HaShem, the King of the universe. Just as HaShem loves every member of Klal Yisrael like His own child, so too, the Torah encourages us to love every member of Klal Yisrael like our own family.

Application: Reflect on the verse, "Love your friend as you love yourself." Say it aloud a few times with the intention to instil love in your heart for all fellow members of Klal Yisrael. Visualize your heart as a flower opening  with love for every person. Experience the joy of loving all of our fellow Jews with the same magnitude of love that we have for ourselves. Widen your circle of love to embrace love for all mankind.
