The Great Nobility of Yonason \ Dovid and Yonason D'var Torah: Yonason, was King Saul's son, and also the beloved and trusted friend of Dovid. King Saul had fierce jealousy for Dovid's great accomplishments (before he became king). When Yonason asked his father to make peace with Dovid, King Saul became infuriated. He called his son a fool and even threw a spear at him. It was obvious that King Saul was intent on killing Dovid. Yonason informed Dovid of the dangerous situation by saying just a few words, "Go in peace." Meaning, "flee for your life." Even though Yonason was very troubled by his father's reaction, he controlled himself from saying any negative words about his father. In his brief words, Yonason revealed to Dovid everything he needed to know to protect himself by fleeing from King Saul.
Moral: Yonason showed extraordinary virtue of character by keeping his emotions in check and carefully selecting his words, making sure not to say anything derogatory about his father.
Application: Make every effort to never say a negative word about another person. Even if someone offends you, remain calm and don't reveal his indiscretions to others. Keep your nobility by overlooking his faults and always seeking peace. (Based on the commentary of Meom Lolz)
