Holiness and Miracles
"Since you did not have faith in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the Children of Israel, you shall not bring this assembly to the Land."
Instead of speaking to the rock to issue water as HaShem commanded, Moshe hit the rock. As a result of Moshe's action, he lost the merit to bring his people into Israel. Let us understand why Moshe's action was so costly. The holiness of HaShem neutralizes and overcomes all material entities. The word of HaShem, alone, has the power to turn the rock into a flowing spring. Therefore, when Moshe hit the rock, it gave the impression that the holiness of HaShem was not powerful enough to miraculously convert the rock into a spring of water.
Lesson: Miracles attest to the holiness of HaShem. When His holiness is revealed in this world it suspends and reverses the material dimension and the laws of nature. Strengthen your faith in HaShem and His unbounded power to reverse darkness to light, and convert all of our troubles to joy!
