The Light of Loving Kindness
The first two thousand years after creation were years of darkness. Meaning, there was no kindness amongst mankind. Then, Avraham Avinu emerged and illuminated the world with the goodness of loving kindness -- the greatest innovation in the history of the world. He welcomed guests into his tent and showered upon them kindness, honor, and love. His beautiful attributes of love and kindness spread throughout the world. Only Sodom rejected Avraham's light and openly advocated selfishness and cruelty. Nevertheless, in his unbounded love, Avraham pleaded with HaShem to spare the people of Sodom from destruction.
Lesson: Loving kindness is the spiritual sun that illuminates the world -- and warms the hearts mankind -- with goodness, joy, and sensitivity.
