The Joy of Calmness and Contentment
D'var Torah:"I have calmed and quieted my soul like a suckling babe beside his mother; my soul is like a suckling babe" (Tehillim 131:2).
After a baby has nursed from his mother, calmness and contentment permeate his being. He doesn't worry if there will be more milk available in a few hours. He is totally satisfied in the sustenance of that moment. King David's heartfelt trust in Hashem filled his inner being with such tranquility, that it moved him to compose the beautiful words, "My soul is like a suckling babe." At that moment of realization, he was fully satiated with Hashem's unbounded kindness, and had no thought or worry about the future.
Moral: From the moment of our inception, Hashem continuously bestows upon us kindness and compassion. Feel the joy and contentment of receiving His boundless blessings and banish all notions of lack or worry.
Application:Envision a nursing infant. See him laying next to his mother in perfect contentment and tranquility. Contemplate the goodness of Hashem that surrounds you with kindness, love, and mercy. Strengthen your trust in Hashem and fill your soul with tranquility and peace.
