Dignity For the Poor When a poor person brings his humble offering to the Temple, the Torah treats him with sensitivity and compassion. For example, while a wealthy person will bring a cow or goat, the poor man brings a simple offering of pan-fried dough. The Torah instructs us to divide his dough into several pieces, in order to make the pan seem full with his offering. This gesture is intended to encourage, comfort, and honor the poor man, despite his modest offering.
Lesson: Be extra gracious, sensitive, and respectful to people who are financially challenged.
Visualization: Envision the joy that the poor person feels when his offering is divided so it presents itself as plentiful and abundant. Encourage people who are less fortunate than you, and accept their gifts with genuine appreciation and admiration.
