SF - The Unique Character of Klal Yisrael

The Unique Character of Klal Yisrael

Klal Yisrael have a unique and precious character trait called "Emes L"Yaacov." Essentially, we have the rare ability to sweeten justice with an equal amount of kindness, dignity, and patience. Even when a person asks for what is rightfully his, he approaches the person with sensitivity and understanding. For example, if he lent money and the borrower is unable pay back his debt. The lender fights against human nature  and tempers his request with kindness and compassion. The attribute of "Emes L'Yaacov" inspires him to find a solution which will sensitively accommodate the situation of the borrower.

Lesson: The Jewish People are the spiritual descendants of Yaacov Avinu, and we have inherited his holy and kindly character traits. We have the unique capacity to balance exercising our legal rights with a great measure of fairness, gentleness, and compassion.

Visualization: Envision the kindness, compassion, and understanding of Yaacov Avinu. See how he never responds harshly to others, even when they fall short of their commitments or responsibilities. Transpose his patience, understanding, and compassion for other people to your heart. Envision all of your interactions with people carried out with the spirit of wisdom, peace, and harmony
