D'var Torah: “HaShem, Your G-d, has increased you, and today you are like the stars of heaven in abundance. May HaShem, the G-d of your fathers, increase you a thousand times, and may He bless you as He has spoken of you” (Devarim 1). Yaakov Avinu came to Egypt with seventy souls. A few hundred years later, the population of Klal Yisrael in the desert was in the millions. What is the secret of the amazing growth of the Jewish People? In the two verses stated above, Moshe Rabenu reveals the secret of the phenomenal blessings which flow upon Klal Yisrael. Specifically, the reason for our miraculous existence is that at the time of the Exodus, HaShem revealed new worlds of Divine compassion, kindness, and freedom. In this light, Moshe Rabenu likened us to “the stars of heaven”. Just as the stars are infinite and are always increasing with new stars, so too, the holiness of the miraculous redemption from Egypt, produced an ever-growing number of Jewish people, that continuously increases and replenishes.
Moral: At the time of the Exodus, HaShem connected Klal Yisrael to the Divine wellspring of infinite kindness. The waters of this endless river continuously increase and flow upon Klal Yisrael with unbounded blessings, kindness, and success.
Application: Reflect on the endless and ever-increasing wellsprings of kindness that HaShem grants to Klal Yisrael. Sense the blessings of abundance flowing upon you and all of Klal Yisrael. Enjoy the endless dimensions of HaShem’s kindness and freedom filling your life with prosperity, growth, and spiritual advancement.
