SF - The Warmth and Light of Avraham Avinu \ Light Messengers Podcast \ Gratitude\ Episode 2

The Warmth and Light of Avraham Avinu

"And HaShem appeared to Avraham in the fields of Mamre, and he was sitting in the entrance of his tent, like the heat of the day" (Bereishis 18:1). Why does the verse say, "like the heat of the day"? The Torah compares Avraham Avinu to the sun, i.e., "like the heat of the day"! Our Sages teach, "The world was cast in darkness for two thousand years until Avraham emerged and illuminated the entire world." The verse conveys that he was sitting near his tent's entrance to welcome wayfarers into his home for a sumptuous meal.

Avraham Avinu's beautiful acts of loving-kindness and pleasant personality warmed humanity's hearts, like the glow of the golden sun.

Envision Avraham Avinu inviting you into his tent for a meal. Notice how he speaks to you with honor, care, and respect. Sense how the warmth of his heart fills the whole world with love, compassion, and kindness.

The Yarzeit of Rachel Emenuh \ Special Edition

"And when I came from Padan, Rachel's death fell upon me in the Land of Canaan in the road, when there was still a stretch of land to come to Efrat, and I buried her there on the way to Efrat, which is Bet Lechem" (Bereishis 48:7). Yaacov Avinu explained to Yoseph the reason why he did not bury Rachel, Yoseph's mother, in Machpeilah (the ancestral burial place of our Patriarchs and Matriachs). Rachel died while giving birth to Benyamin on the road near Bet Lechem, which is about ten miles from Machpeilah. "The sudden death of Rachel, at such a young age, hit me so hard that I had no recourse other than to bury her in the place where she died on the road. I didn't even have the strength to bring her to the cemetery in Bet Lechem. In fact, Rachel's death so weakened me, that I never regained my former strength."

The hearts of Yaacov and Rachel were bound together in perfect, inseparable, and irreplaceable love. The powerful impact that Rachel's sudden death had on Yaacov, reveals the intense love, closeness, and admiration that Yaacov held for his beloved, Rachel.

Be inspired by Yaacov and Rachel to strengthen your love for your family members and friends. Reflect on the gift of having the precious love of your dear ones in your life, and the joy of their companionship. Express your love to beloved ones, spend time with them, and enjoy their company.

SF - 3 Guideposts to Build a Healthy Society \ Light Messengers Podcast \ Gratitude\ Episode 2

Three Guideposts To Build a Safe Society

"Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel said, 'The world stands on three ideals: on justice, truth, and peace.'" (Pirkei Avot 1:18)

In an enlightening revelation of wisdom, the Torah defines the three integral components that form the foundation of a healthy family, society, and world. "Justice" is rendered by wise and moral courts, "truth" is found when people are honest and do not lie to each other, and "peace" prevails when it exists both between nations as well as in interpersonal relationships.

Treating each other with ethical clarity, integrity, and peace creates a healthy society that is morally sound and safe.

Make every effort to treat all people fairly and compassionately; always speak truthfully; and strive to be at peace with every person and in every situation .
