SF - The Primacy of Trust in HaShem

"Trust in HaShem is the single most important requirement needed to serve HaShem" (Duties of the Heart). This concise statement is a spiritual sun that illuminates the path of Torah and Mitzvot. Trust in HaShem is the key factor that leads to spiritual success, and it is infinitely more important than intelligence, effort, wealth, or status! For example, the trust in HaShem of our holy Avot, Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaacov, granted them the knowledge of the entire Torah, even before HaShem revealed the Torah on Mount Sinai. In light of this, every person, regardless of his challenges, has the opportunity to excel in serving HaShem. The more we strengthen our trust in HaShem, the more we are empowered to advance in our service of HaShem.

Spirituality is like the flight of a bird. As long as the bird flaps his wings he ascends to heaven, yet when he makes no effort to climb upwards he descends. So too, the more we strengthen our trust in HaShem, the closer we come to HaShem and the more joy we experience.

Envision Avraham Avinu as a young child living in a society of pagans. See him contemplate on the universe and recognize the kind Creator. Each day he strengthens his faith and trust in HaShem a little more. Ultimately, he emerges with towering, unshakeable faith in HaShem. In return for his extraordinary faith, HaShem blesses him boundless blessings. He merits to be the progenitor of Klal Yisrael, a Prophet, and the innovator of loving kindness.

SF - Sweeten the Bitter

A few days after leaving Egypt, Klal Yisrael arrived at Mara, a place of bitter, undrinkable water. Moshe wondered why HaShem created such useless water. HaShem said to Moshe, "Everything that I created has a purpose. Let me teach you what to pray for in such a situation. You should pray, 'HaShem, please make the bitter waters sweet.'" HaShem told Moshe to throw a particular tree into the water, and the waters turned sweet. Several weeks later Klal Yisrael fell to the sin of the golden calf, and the Divine wrath was awakened against them. Moshe prayed, "HaShem, didn't you teach me at Mara, to pray for the bitter to turn sweet? So too, at the time of this bitter sin, rectify the bitterness and heal Klal Yisrael." HaShem accepted Moshe's prayer and showed compassion to Klal Yisrael, "HaShem relented on the harsh judgement that He thought to do to His people" (Shemot 32:14)

Every difficult situation and sin, no matter how bitter, can always be reversed to sweetness through prayer and faith.

Envision Moshe Rabenu at Mara, wondering what was the purpose of these bitter waters. Reflect on HaShem teaching him to pray for the bitter waters to be sweetened. See Moshe save Klal Yisrael by praying for the bitter sin of the golden calf to be sweetened and rectified. Strengthen your faith that HaShem can transform every bitter situation and sin into sweetness. Pray to HaShem to reverse all the bitterness of your life into sweetness. Thank HaShem for teaching you the secret of how to heal yourself through prayer. Receive HaShem's forgiveness and reverse all darkness into light.

SF - The Rays Of Light That Illuminated Moshe's Countenance

"And when Moshe descended from Mount Sinai with the two Tablets of Testimony...Moshe did not know that rays of light projected from his face, from when He spoke with him." (Shemot 34:30). What factor caused Moshe to shine with the light of the sun? When HaShem taught Moshe Torah on Mount Sinai, sparks of light flashed from the Shechinah and illuminated his face. Yet, how could it be that Moshe was not aware of the great light beaming from his countenance? Moshe Rabenu's heart was filled with the intense, incomparable joy of coming close to HaShem and learning the holy Torah. The light that projected from Moshe's face was an external reflection that revealed his inner exuberance. The real expression of Moshe Rabenu's light was the unbounded levels of joy that he experienced in his heart.

Torah study and coming close to HaShem offers us infinite levels of spiritual joy. The primary goal of our mission is to take advantage of the opportunity to grasp the joy of Torah and closeness to HaShem, that is available to everyone who engages in its study.

Envision Moshe Rabenu's countenance shining like the light of the sun. Consider that the light upon his countenance reflects his unbounded inner joy of receiving the Torah from HaShem. When you study Torah enjoy the words, delight in the concepts, and take pleasure in coming closer to HaShem.
