The journey is beautiful

"Quickly go up to my father and say to him, 'Your son Yoseph said: "HaShem has made me master of all Egypt'" (Bereisheis 45:9). Yaacov Avinu was an elderly sage, totally focused on spirituality. If so, why did Yoseph impress upon his father that he attained power in Egypt? Usually, when a person receives a new post, he says, "I got a new job." How much more so, if he is appointed to be a Prime Minister, he says, "The king appointed me to be Prime Minister." Whereas, Yoseph did not say, "Pharoah appointed me to be the Prime Minister." Instead, Yoseph said, "HaShem made me master of all Egypt." After all of the hardships that Yoseph suffered over thirteen years, and finally, instantaneously going from "darkness to light," Yoseph maintained perfect faith in HaShem! Now we understand the import of Yoseph's message to his father. Nothing would make Yaacov Avinu happier than knowing that Yoseph emerged from his troubles with perfect faith in HaShem, "HaShem made me the master of all Egypt."  Even though Yoseph's wisdom and interpretation of Pharaoh"s dreams greatly impressed Pharaoh, Yoseph did not take any credit for his success. Yoseph gave all the credit for his success and power to HaShem alone.  Reflect on your activities of today. Strengthen your faith that HaShem is the source of all success. Take no credit for your accomplishment. Thank HaShem for your wisdom, energy, and successes. SF - Beloved Is Man to HaShem

The journey is beautiful

"Beloved is man, for he is created in the Image of HaShem. HaShem revealed an additional dimension of love for man by making known to man that he is created in the Image of HaShem" (Avot 3:14). The more a person recognizes his self-worth, the more he values life, and the more he strives to elevate himself, as well as his entire life experience. Amongst His myriad creations, HaShem chose to instill His Divine spark in humankind alone. Before we exisited, we had no merits or special favor. In His pure kindness, HaShem gifted us with a holy soul that He formed in His Image. The more we fathom the infinite goodness of HaShem, the more we understand our inherent goodness and favor in the eyes of HaShem.  The ultimate sense of self-esteem is the awareness that HaShem creates us in His Image and loves our very essence. Contemplate on the teaching, "Beloved is man, for he is created in the Image of HaShem. HaShem revealed an additional dimension of love for man by making known to man that he is created in the Image of HaShem." Reflect on the infinite compassion of HaShem, the Creator of heaven and earth. Rejoice in knowing that HaShem created you in His likeness, and that you are always beloved and most precious to Him. SF - Ascend to Your Inner Goodness

The journey is beautiful

The Zohar reveals, "Attaining clarity that HaShem is the Source of all Goodness is a great virtue. What's more, when a person recognizes that HaShem bestows unbounded goodness upon him, he will acquire a 'good eye" (Zohar Bereisheis 197). What is the relationship between realizing the Goodness of HaShem and developing a "good eye"? A cursory understanding of HaShem's goodness does not suffice to open our hearts with pure joy. The Zohar reveals a definitive test to clarify if we genuinely recognize the goodness of HaShem. If the unbounded goodness of HaShem fills our hearts with great happiness, then we will be happy for the success of our friends. When we make a consistent and concentrated effort to rejoice in the goodness that HaShem always showers upon us, then we will be delighted with all the good that comes to our friend. Before you eat your meal, take a few moments to appreciate the kindness of HaShem. Say your blessing with heartfelt joy. Enjoy the life-giving sustenance of HaShem's food. Make your after blessings with thanks and praise to HaShem -- the Source of Good. Rejoice in the good that comes to your friend.
