The Power of Speaking Pleasantly "Accustom yourself to always speak all of your words pleasantly to every person and in every situation. In this way you will save yourself from anger, which is one of the worst character traits for a person to display."  (The Ramban's Letter) There is no trait more worthy than attaining the good habit of speaking all of your words with pleasantness and gentleness. Your commitment to always use gentle linguistics will inspire you to never speak harshly nor act angrily to anybody. The receiver of your kind words, be it friend or acquaintance, will feel comforted and encouraged by your pleasant mode of conversation. What's more, by accustoming yourself to always speaking gently, you will develop a calm and gentle nature.  The first and foremost rule of attaining good personal relationships is the mastery of pleasant speech in all of our conversations. Repeat aloud the holy words of the Ramban: "Accustom yourself to always speak all of your words pleasantly to every person and in every situation. In this way you will save yourself from anger, which is one of the worst character traits for a person to display." Internalize the lesson and put it into practice. SF - Money Comes From Heaven

The journey is beautiful

There was once a ladder with ten rungs. Even though each rung was exactly the same size, the top rung felt that it was superior to all the rungs below it. Looking down with arrogance at the lower rungs, the top rung called out, "I have been chosen to stand above you. Therefore, I am the greatest and most important rung of all!" At that moment a passerby heard the boasting of the top rung. He reached out and turned the ladder around. The bottom rung felt itself flying to the top, while the top rung found itself falling to the lowest point. When the arrogant rung saw its downfall it regretted its conceit. The lower rung, which was now perched on top, was very careful not to entertain any feelings of pride, so as not to suffer the fate of the prideful rung.    The ladder in this parable alludes to the dynamics of wealth. From our earthly perspective, it seems money comes to our hands through our own efforts. In truth, every penny that comes to our hands is decreed from Heaven. HaShem, alone, decides who will be rich and who will be poor.  If you are wealthy, remind yourself that it is HaShem Who blessed you with prosperity. By reflecting on this truth, you will maintain a sense of humility and retain your wealth. If you not wealthy, reflect on the fact that it is the decree of HaShem that determines your financial status. SF - Thoughts of Peace

The journey is beautiful

"'I know the thoughts I am thinking about you,' said HaShem, 'thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and hope' (Yermiyahu 29:11). The Torah reveals that HaShem continuously engages in good thoughts and positive contemplations. He mediates on the secrets of the holy Torah, reflects on new dimensions of kindness to bestow upon His creations, and contemplates the good deeds of man. HaShem does not allow any judgement to enter his thoughts, nor does he notice any human flaw, because He is infinitely compassionate. HaShem contemplates on good thoughts, and at the same time filters any negative notion from entering His mind. Just as HaShem's thoughts are always good and positive, so too, man, the Image of HaShem, has the power to always have positive thoughts. Our compassionate soul has the purity to keep our minds focused on good and constructive thoughts.  Envision Avraham Avinu welcoming guests into his tent. Sense his warmth and see the joy shining on his countenance. Take note how his positive thoughts and loving feelings fill his heart with joy. Transpose Avraham's positive thoughts to your mind, and fill your heart with wisdom, love, and joy.
