SF - Maybe They Will Repent \ Tomer Devorah

SF - Maybe They Will Repent \ Tomer Devorah

“He does not hold His wrath forever” (Michah 7).

Even if a person persists in sinning, HaKodesh Baruch Hu does not persist in His anger.

Just the opposite, HaShem nullifies His anger, even if the person does not perform repentance.

For instance, in days of Yeravam ben Yo’ash, Klal Yisrael worshipped idols.

Nevertheless, HaShem had mercy on Klal Yisrael and helped them regain the territory that they had lost in battle.

Why would HaShem show them mercy if they were still worshipping idols?

For the sake of this holy attribute, “He does not hold His wrath forever.”

HaShem mitigates His wrath even though they are still sinning.

He doesn’t punish Klal Yisrael. Instead, He shows them compassion and He is hopeful, “Maybe they will repent.”

HaShem conducts Himself, with “softness and strictness,” all for the benefit of Klal Yisrael.

How do we apply this lesson in our lives?

It is appropriate for us to conduct ourselves with this attribute in our interpersonal relationships.

Even if we have the right to rebuke our friend or our children, we should not rebuke them.

Instead we should annul our irritation, and “not hold our wrath forever.”

Even if the Torah permits us to be wrathful, we should let our anger go. For instance, if you saw your friend commit a sin, and you are a single witness, so you cannot testify against him, you are allowed to “detest” him because of the sin.

Nevertheless, the Torah tells us, “Let it go!” Instead, it is a Mitzvah to bring him close to you in love. Maybe, the gentle approach will succeed!

"Keep The Faith" \ Tehillim

"Yisrael trust in HaShem from now and evermore" (Tehillim 131:3). "Trust in HaShem, strengthen yourself, and He will embolden you, and trust in HaShem" (Tehillim 27).

These verses reveal the secret of prayer and trust in HaShem.

Many people think that HaShem wants us to pray to Him, but just one time.

If He answers our prayer, then all is good. If He doesn't answer our prayer, then it means HaShem has not accepted our request. So we give up, and we stop praying for whatever we requested.

However, the above verses reveal that we need to pray to HaShem, over and over again! "Trust in HaShem" -- pray to Him. "Strengthen yourself, and He will embolden you," -- if you strengthen your trust in HaShem, He will reciprocate and invigorate your spirit. "And trust in HaShem," now that you increased your faith in HaShem and He inspired your soul, pray to HaShem, over and over again!

Moshe Rabenu prayed over five hundred prayers requesting to come into Eretz Yisrael. There was no place in Heaven that Moshe Rabenu did not visit in his pleading with HaShem to allow him to enter the Land of Israel.
Only when HaShem told him to stop, did Moshe stop praying.

How do we apply this powerful lesson to our situation?

Review the verses aloud, "Yisrael trust in HaShem from now and evermore. Trust in HaShem, strengthen yourself, and He will embolden you, and trust in HaShem."

Internalize the lesson from this verse. Pray to HaShem, strengthen your trust in HaShem, and He will encourage you. And pray to HaShem, again and again. Never stop praying, never stop trusting, always believe and trust in HaShem, and always be optimistic that HaShem will save you.
