SF - Community Peace

 Community Peace

To be a member of a community presents a person with the opportunity to attain the supreme trait of peacefulness. This peace and tranquility is accomplished by contemplating how all of our actions and words will effect other people.  Refining ourselves and acting with discretion ensures that our character traits and actions are always pleasing, joyous, and peaceful.

Lesson: A group in which each person makes an effort to be sensitive and supportive of each other, will result in interpersonal harmony and peace.

Visualization: Envision the warmth and sensitivity that Avraham Avinu showed in his interpersonal relationships. Consider how your actions and words will effect every person in your family, work, or classroom. Attain the golden trait of peacefulness through showing sensitivity to others .
(Based on Ohr RaShaz, Rav Simchah Zissel Ziv)

SF - Hope is Healing to the Soul

Hope is Healing to the Soul

"We hope for Your salvation all day long." (Shemoneh Esrei)

Success and happiness blossoms from steadfast trust in HaShem. Hope is the life and peace of the soul.  Therefore hope is healing to the soul, even before the object of our hope comes to fruition. The very faith and trust in HaShem causes the fulfillment of our hope.

Lesson:  Spiritual vitality is awakened by continuously strengthening our trust in HaShem's kindness, so that we are always filled with the joy and delight of optimism.

App: Plant the seeds of your salvation by always being strong in your hope and trust that HaShem will save, help, and protect you.

Sabedoria para o Crescimento Pessoal

NUTRINDO NOSSAS ALMAS

Shabat Shalom a Todos!

SF - The Importance of Kindness

The Importance of Kindness

Last week's Torah reading centered on the "Sinai Experience." That is, HaShem giving the Torah to Klal Yisrael, the most awesome event in the history of the world.  We would expect following HaShem's giving the Torah at Sinai, the Torah would give priority to the laws pertaining to man and HaShem. Yet this week's Torah reading makes little mention of the laws pertaining to man and HaShem. Instead, this week's reading centers exclusively on the laws pertaining to man and his fellow. The Torah's powerful message is that the laws pertaining to our fellow man, are just as important as the laws between man and HaShem.

Lesson: HaShem's love for mankind and His love of justice permeate the essence of the Torah. Even though HaShem is the King of the universe, He lays down the laws governing interpersonal relationships before expounding on the laws relevant to Divine worship.

App: Give priority in your Torah observance to act with integrity in all of your dealings with your fellow man. Treat all people with respect, kindness, love, and sensitivity.
(Based on the teachings of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter, as cited by Rabbi Moshe Sternboch)

SF - A Loving Teacher

A Loving Teacher

When HaShem gave us the Torah at Mount Sinai, He revealed His attribute of a "Loving and Merciful Father." Since the Torah is love itself, HaShem taught the Torah to us with love. Just as HaShem gave us the Torah with love, so too, it is appropriate for us to teach the Torah with abundant love and compassion.

Lesson: By teaching Torah with compassion and love, we create the correct atmosphere that evokes the true essence of the loving Torah of HaShem.

App: Be loving, pleasant, and patient with your students and teach according to their ability to receive the knowledge --- and bring the sweet blessings of Torah into the world.
