SF - Shabbat Brings the Power of Renewal

"May He send your help from holiness, and may He strengthen you from Zion" (Tehillim 20). It seems more correct to say, "May He send His help from holiness." Rather, the verse states "your help" to reveal a very important lesson. "May He send your help from holiness" implies that HaShem helps each individual person to sanctify and elevate himself. Specifically on each and every Shabbat HaShem illuminates every Jewish person with a "Nishama Yeteira," an additional dimension of holiness.

The six days of creation correspond to the natural laws of the universe. Whereas, the holiness of Shabbat is above the natural laws. Shabbat brings the power of renewal to the entire creation, by connecting all of Klal Yisrael to HaShem, the holy Creator.

Sense the extra dimension of holiness that HaShem grants you on Shabbat. Reflect on the wonder that HaShem, sanctifies you on Shabbat. Enjoy your "Nishama Yeteira," and experience new vistas of holiness, happiness, and closeness to HaShem.

SF - Bless HaShem With Joy!

"The praise of HaShem will fill my mouth, and all mankind will bless His Holy name forever more."
Through the spirit of prophecy King David recognized that HaShem continuously supplied him with his daily bread. He understood that his sustenance comes to him directly from the free-flowing kindness of HaShem, just as surely as a mother lovingly nurses her baby. In light of this, King David praised HaShem each and every day for his provisions, which he considered as  miraculous  as the Manna from Heaven.

King David deeply  appreciated  the great miracle of receiving his "daily bread" from HaShem. He expressed his thankfulness to HaShem: "The praise of HaShem will fill my mouth." We are inspired by King David to also thank HaShem for His unending, life-giving kindness of providing our livelihood - "And all mankind will bless His holy Name forever more."

Before you eat, take a second to reflect on HaShem's kindness of providing your meal. See your food as a  gift from HaShem that He created especially for you. Feel the joy of gratitude for HaShem's kindness in giving you your daily bread. Make a blessing over your food with joyful thanksgiving to HaShem.

SF - There Are No Boundaries In Love

"Love your friend like you love yourself." (Vayikra 19:18)
The verse expresses the wonderful ideal to love others with the same love that we love ourselves. The Torah inspires us to go beyond human nature by expanding our love, sensitivity, and care for our fellow man. When we share our wisdom, friendship, and material possessions with others, we are following the holy way of loving kindness. Even more, our love for our friends is so strong that we wish for them the same fullness of happiness, that we desire for ourselves.

There are no boundaries in love. Just as we want the very best for ourselves, the Torah urges us to want the very best for our friends.

Envision Avraham Avinu showering his love and kindness upon his fellow man. See how he loves each person as his brother. Sense his joyous love for all of mankind. Be inspired to open your heart to love others just as you love yourself.
