SF -- The Great Reward of the Redemption

When Jacob, our Patriarch, blessed his beloved sons with his final blessings, he blessed Joseph effusively. Jacob concluded his blessing to Joseph, "May they (i.e., the blessings) be upon Joseph's head and upon the head of the exile from his bothers" (Bereisheis 49:26). Jacob's intention was not only to bless Joseph for providing for his brothers during the famine.

Jacob's primary purpose was to bless Joseph for upholding his faith and trust in HaShem despite his many hardships and pains while exiled from his brothers. Despite his severe challenges in Egypt, he strengthened his commitment to uphold the Divine covenant.

From Jacob's intention in blessing Joseph, we can imagine when HaShem brings upon us the final redemption, quickly in our days, how much goodness HaShem will shower upon us! Despite our protracted exile and the suffering that we endured - and no other nation suffered as we did - yet we still held firm to our trust in Hashem! We were "one sheep amongst seventy wolves;" nevertheless, we remained faithful to the Divine covenant.

Thus, we can imagine the abundant blessings, reward, and happiness that HaShem will bestow upon His beloved children when the final redemption arrives.

SF -- Speak With Sweet Words

"Naftali is a deer sent forth, who delivers beautiful sayings." (Bereisheis 49:21). This verse alludes to a parallel verse in Song of Songs (4:11), "The sweetness of your words drips from your lips, like honey and milk it lies under your tongue." Naftali's words were sweeter than honey and a honeycomb.

It very well could be that the kings of Israel would choose people from the tribe of Naftali as representatives of the king to speak to other kings. The "Naftalites" spoke so beautifully that they would successfully accomplish their mission, "for the king is a friend to one who speaks with graciousness" (Proverbs 22:11).

They were also swift on their feet as a deer bounding over the meadow and skipping over the mountains.

Their essential virtue was their mastery of language. They articulated their words clearly and elegantly, like a master diplomat.

Kabbalistically, "a deer sent forth" refers to the Holy Divine Presence. She is "sent forth" from Him to communicate to the terrestrial beings because her sweet words are needed to inspire them to emulate Her ways.

Speak with sweet words that uplift, encourage, and inspire others.
