SF - My Soul Hopes In HaShem

"I hope for HaShem, my soul hopes; and for His word, I wait" (Psalms 130:5). The Torah prophetically reveals that ultimately HaShem will reveal His glory and the splendor of His great majesty. In light of this, the verse says, "I hope for HaShem, my soul hopes." Meaning, those who steadfastly trust in HaShem, will merit to see the wondrous revelation of HaShem. In addition, "for His word, I wait," meaning, they wait for the final redemption. This event is expressed by the verse, "Even if your exiles are at the end of the heavens, HaShem your G-d, will gather you from there, and He will take you from there. And HaShem your G-d will bring you to the land that your forefathers possessed, and you will take possession of it, and He will do good to you, and He will make you more numerous that your forefathers" (Deuteronomy 30:4).

Our collective hope in HaShem and our longing for redemption, despite our prolonged exile, is the merit that will bring the final redemption.

Reflect on the emergence of our homeland in Israel after 2000 years of exile. Thank HaShem for witnessing this unprecedented miracle. Be encouraged by knowing that our irrepressible faith over the centuries has given birth to the great miracle of the reestablishment of the Jewish People in Eretz Yisrael. Strengthen your hope and faith in HaShem, and merit to see the revelation of HaShem and the final redemption.

SF - Initiate a Greeting

"No one ever greeted Rabbi Yochonon ben Zachai before he first greeted them. He was always first to greet even a non-Jew in the market place" (Brachot 17a). It is amazing that Rabbi Yochonon ben Zachai was always first, in every instance, to greet whoever he encountered. How did he master this most precious virtue? The precious trait of humility was the root of Rabbi Yochonon ben Zachai's holy conduct. Since he perceived every other person as more worthy than himself, he was always motived to honor them by greeting them first.

Consider that every person is worthy of your respect and be inspired to be the first one to greet every person you encounter.

(1) Review the teaching, "No one ever greeted Rabbi Yochonon ben Zachai before he first greeted them. He was always first to greet even a non-Jew in the market place". (2) Consider the good points of every person. (3) Make a personal rule for yourself to always be the first to greet other people.

Salmos para o Sustento!

SF - You Are Holy

In our daily prayers we say, "You are holy, Your Name is holy, and each day Your holy ones praise You." Who are "Your holy ones" and why do they praise HaShem "each day"? Each and every day HaShem continuously bestows His kindness and guidance to every person. The essence of serving HaShem is recognizing HaShem's amazing goodness that continuously surrounds us, as well as His Divine Providence that oversees our welfare. The more we are aware of HaShem's holiness that impacts every second of our lives, the more holiness we attain. In this light, we are "the holy ones," who are moved to praise Him every day for granting us the miracle of life, countless blessings, and caring protection.

Klal Yisrael are spiritually elevated because they focus on recognizing the holiness of HaShem, Who showers kindness upon us every second of our lives.

Envision Klal Yisrael joined together in a choir, singing praises to HaShem. Join in with the choir and sing joyous praises to HaShem, the Holy One, May He be Blessed. As you recognize HaShem, a little more and more each day, ascend to new levels of holiness.
