SF - Mastery of the Subconcious

Korah accused Moshe of favoritism because Moshe appointed his own brother, Aaron to be the High Priest. Korach gathered a few hundred prominent people and lead a futile rebellion against Moshe. Korah felt he was standing up for truth and justice. However, his real motivation was jealousy. He felt slighted because Moshe appointed one of Korach's younger relatives. It is important to point out that Korach was a wise and righteous man. The jealousy that drove him was subconscious and he did not detect it, whatsoever. Yet, if Korach didn't realize that jealousy stirred his actions, why is he culpable? Korach was responsible to introspect and recognize the latent jealousy that moved him to fight against Moshe.  We can overcome the influence of inner feelings by being aware that they have the power to influence our behavior. This realization inspires us to look deeply within ourselves to make sure that our motivations our pure. We can keep our feelings in check by fully devoting our hearts to HaShem, as King Solomon said,. "My son, give Me your heart." Envision Korach contending with Moshe and ultimately being disgraced. Note how subconscious feelings caused his downfall. Make an inner resolve to dedicate you heart wholly to HaShem. You will be protected from making costly mistakes and blessed with success, peace of mind, and inner joy. SF - The Healing Power of a Happy Heart

The journey is beautiful

"A happy heart is a fine remedy" (Mishlei 17:22). A happy heart is the most powerful of all healing agents!  In this light, good children bring joy to their parents more than anything else in the world. To provide one's children with proper education and train them to have virtuous character traits is a healing balm for the parents. The happiness parents feel in seeing their children grow to be good and decent is the medicine that heals both body and soul.  Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz was an esteemed Rosh Yeshiva in the period before World War II. The best student in the Yeshiva was a son from an impoverished family. The boy's father ran a small grocery store, which hardly broke even. Whenever Rabbi Leibowitz would pass the store, he would say, "Here's the millionaire!"  He knew that despite the financial hardships, the father was intensely happy! There is no worldly joy that comes close to the pleasure of having a son who is a Torah Scholar. The happiness of having such a son made the father a genuine millionaire! Each one of us is a "child of HaShem!" He loves us and takes pride in our holy essence and good deeds. Our yearning to please HaShem gives Him great delight! Let us internalize the message of the verse, "A happy heart is a fine remedy." Reflect on the unbounded goodness, love, and compassion that the Creator showers upon you. Heighten your awareness a little more each day of HaShem's kindness. Strengthen the happiness in your heart and enjoy the most excellent remedy. SF - The Humility of Aaron

When Korach brazenly challenged Aaron's appointment to be Kohen Gadol, "Moshe fell down," deeply concerned over the ramifications of this insurgency. It is interesting to note that there is no mention of Aaron's reaction, whatsoever, to Korach's condemnation of him in the entire Parashah. As a result of his humility and holiness, Aaron accepted Korach's criticism. Aaron agreed that he was, in fact, unworthy and that Korach was far more worthy than he to be the Kohen Gadol. In fact, Korach's arrogance in contrast to Aaron's humbleness, was the very reason why HaShem appointed Aaron, and not Korach, to serve as the Kohen Gadol.    Despite Korach's great wisdom and spiritual powers, his yearning for honor disqualified him to serve as Kohen Gadol. Conversely, Aaron's inner purity and humility is the primary reason that HaShem chose Aharon to be the Kohen Gadol. Envision Aaron HaKohen hearing Korach's assertion that he, and not Aaron was worth of the Kohunah. Sense how Aaron's holiness and humility prompt him to acknowledge that he is inadequate to be the Kohen Gadol. Emulate Aaron's holiness and humility, and receive HaShem's choicest blessings.
