SF - The Secret of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai

The Secret of Rebe Shimon bar Yochai

Yochai was married for many years, yet his wife did not bear him any children. He asked her to accept a divorce, so that he could marry a new wife who might give him children. She begged him to let her try for one more year. Yochai agreed to her request.

With a broken heart and an ocean of tears she prayed for a miracle.

One night, Yochai dreamt that he was in a forest of dry leafless trees. Each tree was watered with a small cup of water and sprouted to life. Soon he came to his tree, which was next to a barrel of water.  The barrel poured water on to the tree, and it blossomed with leaves and fruits.

He related the dream to a sage and asked him its meaning. The sage told him that he would have a great son, who would blossom in Torah and fill the whole world with light. Yochai asked why the other trees had a cup, while his tree had a barrel of water. The sage answered, "The barrel symbolizes the copious tears of your wife."

Lesson: Heartfelt prayer with many tears has the power to convert darkness to light.

SF - The Secret of Attaining Inner Peace

The Secret of Attaining Inner Peace

There are seven unique qualities that HaShem has that makes it befitting for us to put our full trust in Him. The seven qualities are: (1) He loves us and has compassion on us. (2) He actively oversees our lives and takes care of us. (3) He knows what is best for us. (4) He has the power to help us according to His will. (5) No one can benefit us or hurt us without his permission. (6) He takes care of us unceasingly from our inception in the womb to the end of our lives. (7) He loves us unconditionally and helps us whether we are worthy or not.

Lesson: It is impossible to find even one of these attributes in a human being. Yet, we find them all simultaneously in HaShem! Therefore our trust in HaShem gives us the precious trait of tranquility.

Visualization: Reflect on the seven unique qualities of HaShem, strengthen your trust in Him, and envision attaining tranquility and inner peace.

O Segredo da Auto-Estima

Em Memória de Alter Yossef ben Shmuel, Hanne Bruche bat Hazel, Samuele ben Yossef, Samuel ben Avraham, Regina bat Alter, Aranka bat Shmuel Biniamin e Lea bat Michael Z"L

A LUZ DO MUSSAR

SF - Enjoy The Ultimate Torah

Enjoy The Ultimate Torah

"These are the commandments that HaShem commanded Moshe to the Children of Israel on Mount Sinai" (Vayikra 27:34). Our Sages explain this verse: "These are the commandments" -- "these" are the only commandments. No other prophet has permission to add any other commandments to the Torah. "That HaShem commanded Moshe" -- Moshe was worthy of being the envoy of HaShem. "Moshe to the Children of Israel" -- Moshe was worthy of being the envoy of the Children of Israel, and the Children of Israel were worthy of having a teacher like Moshe. "To the Children of Israel" -- the Torah was given on the merit of the Children of Israel. "On Mount Sinai" -- the entire Torah was given on Mount Sinai.

Lesson: HaShem gave the Torah to the holiest prophet, to the greatest generation, and at the holiest place. Each generation has the opportunity to share in the exalted Torah of Moshe transmitted to Klal Yisrael at Mount Sinai.

Visualization: When you learn Torah, envision that HaShem is teaching you the holy Torah and revealing its beautiful secrets at Mount Sinai.

A Vantagem da Generosidade

Em Memória de Alter Yossef ben Shmuel, Hanne Bruche bat Hazel, Samuele ben Yossef, Samuel ben Avraham, Regina bat Alter, Aranka bat Shmuel Biniamin e Lea bat Michael Z"L

A LUZ DO MUSSAR

SF - The Joyous Song of Israel

The Joyous Song of Israel

In our daily prayers we say, "You are holy, Your Name is holy, and each day Your holy ones praise You." Who are "Your holy ones" and why do they praise HaShem "each day"? Each and every day HaShem continuously bestows His kindness to every person. Klal Yisrael recognizes HaShem's amazing goodness, and His Divine Providence that oversees our welfare. We are moved to praise Him every day for granting us the miracle of life, countless blessings, and caring protection.

Lesson: The holiness of HaShem is revealed to us through His loving kindness. He takes care of us every second of our lives in countless ways, both hidden and revealed.

Visualization: Envision Klal Yisrael joined together in a choir, singing praises to HaShem. Join in with the choir and sing joyous praises to HaShem, the Holy One, May He be Blessed.
