SF - Personal Holiness

"Trust in HaShem, strengthen and encourage yourself, and trust in HaShem" (Tehillim 27).

This inspirational verse teaches us to always rely and trust in HaShem because even a thousand difficulties cannot extinguish one's dynamic faith. "Trust in HaShem," that no trouble will come. If trouble does come, "Strengthen and encourage yourself." Meaning, never give up hope from finding HaShem's compassion, even if "the sword is resting on your neck." Lastly, "And trust in HaShem," meaning, on the merit of your irrepressible trust in HaShem the trouble will pass and you will find relief.

Unyielding faith in HaShem is the key to our personal redemption. In addition, our pure trust in HaShem awakens the redemption of all Klal Yisrael.

Reflect upon and repeat today's verse. Envision your trust in HaShem growing stronger and stronger, and see all of your troubles fade away. Envision all of Klal Yisrael trusting in HaShem and awaken the merit to bring our final redemption.

SF - Personal Holiness

"See, I give before you today a blessing and a curse. The blessing emanates to you if you will observe the commandments of HaShem.."

(Re'eh 11:26). Curiously, the Torah refers to the fulfillment of Mitzvot as "a blessing," not as a choice of good over evil. When a person carries out the will of an earthly king, the king rewards him. However, the reward does not improve the character of the person. In contrast, the holiness of the Mitzvah grants our reward as well as elevates our entire being. After a person does a Mitzvah, he is a different person than he was before.

A Mitzvah is rooted in Heaven, for HaShem commands us to fulfill His Mitzvot. When a person does a Mitzvah, the Light of HaShem illuminates upon him. Not only does the Blessing of the Mitzvah purify and sanctify our soul, but it also purifies and sanctifies our body.

Reflect on the blessing that we say before performing a Mitzvah: "Blessed are You, HaShem, King of the universe, Who sanctifies with His commandments." When you do a Mitzvah, experience the holiness of HaShem elevating and purifying your being. After completing the Mitzvah, consider yourself a new creation.

SF - You Are a Holy Nation

"For you are a holy nation to HaShem, your G-d; for HaShem your G-d has chosen you from all the nations upon the earth." (Devarim ). Just as earthly kings select royal ministers to serve the king, so too, HaShem chose one nation, Klal Yisrael, to attend to the Divine service. The question is: what qualifies Klal Yisrael for this special mission of serving HaShem? It is not because we are the most numerous amongst the nations, for we are, in fact, the smallest of the nations. Rather, the unique quality of Klal Yisrael is our inherent holiness. Indeed, our holy souls emanate from a holy source. In light of this, HaShem charges us with Mitzvot which preserve our holiness, so that we are always worthy to be close to HaShem and serve in His inner most sanctum.

Just as gold and silver are most precious amongst the metals, so too, the innate holiness of Klal Yisrael elevates us above the other nations, and qualifies us for our special relationship with HaShem.

Take a moment to reflect on your inherent holiness that emanates from your holy and most precious soul. Imagine receiving a special invitation from HaShem to be one of His trusted ministers and serve in His inner sanctum. Strengthen your commitment to Mitzvot so that you are always worthy to stand before HaShem.
