The Torah Alleviates the Three Main Fears of Man

"A psalm of David: 'HaShem is my light and my salvation, I will not fear; HaShem is the strength of my life, I will not be afraid'"
(Tehillim 27:1).

From Rosh Chodesh Elul until the conclusion of Sukot, we recite Psalm 27. What is the significance of this Tehillim and why do we say it during this auspicious period?

This Psalm reveals the remedy for the three main fears of man: the loss of intelligence, bodily harm, and transiency. Despite King David's many trials and tribulations, he was always deeply calm and tranquil. What was King David's secret of maintaining his serenity and peace of mind?

King David perceived that his wisdom, i.e., "my light"; his protection, i.e., "my salvation"; and his very life, i.e., "my life" -- are all secure because they come directly to him from HaShem!

The Torah alleviates us of the three primary fears by revealing that HaShem continuously grants us our intelligence, protection, and life.

Review the verse,"A psalm of David: 'HaShem is my light and my salvation, I will not fear; HaShem is the strength of my life, I will not be afraid.'" Internalize its profoundly positive message -- and attain peace of mind, joy, and tranquility.
