SF - HaShem's Unbounded Compassion

The people of Sodom were corrupt and unscrupulous. They habitually stole, acted violently, perverted justice, and were degenerate. Nevertheless, these blatant sins did not bring about their destruction. Judgment was awakened against them because they did not give charity to the poor people. What caused them to act so callously to the poor people? The people of Sodom did not contemplate on the existence of HaShem, His supervision of mankind, and His judgement. As a result of their lack of awareness of HaShem, they did not overcome their selfish nature, and they had no compassion on their fellow man.

HaShem is incredibly merciful and patient with people who commit misdeeds. However, while HaShem overlooks a lot of man's moral indiscretions, he does not tolerate lack of compassion and kindness. How much more so, does HaShem show endless mercy to those who have compassion on others.

Dedicate a few minutes each day to contemplate on HaShem's existence. Be sensitive to the needs of the people around you and actively help them. Give charity to the needy, be kind to those who need your help, and alway speak pleasantly with words of compassion, encouragement, and care.
