SF - HaShem Longs for Our Success \ Parashat Terumah

Refuah Shleimah for Dovid ben Rachel

HaShem Longs for Our Success \ Parashat Terumah

D'var TorahThe Torah teaches the laws of the Mishkan five times. Our Sages tell us that this repetition is an expression of HaShem's love for Klal Yisrael. This is likened to a parable: A king sent his son to study with a master educator. When the king came to check on his son's progress he asked the teacher, "Is my son eating properly? Sleeping? Attending the classes?" Surprisingly he did not ask the main question, "Is my son advancing in his studies?" Since the king selected a master educator, he was certain that he was receiving the finest education. Therefore, it was only necessary for the king to inquire if his son was taking care on his personal needs. Just as the king was concerned that his son attend to his personal needs so that he would have the opportunity to benefit from the efforts of his master teacher, so too, HaShem reminded Klal Yisrael five times to build the Mishkan so that they would merit to enjoy the delights of the Shechinah. If Klal Yisrael will only fulfill the HaShem's request to build the Mishkan, then HaShem's Presence will absolutely and unquestionably fill the Mishkan. As a result,  Klal Yisrael will receive and rejoice in the ultimate pleasure of experiencing closeness to HaShem.

Moral: In HaShem's abundant love for Klal Yisrael, He repeatedly urges us to build the Mishkan, so that the Shechinah will dwell amongst us. If we do our small part, HaShem will certainly reveal His splendorous light to the Jewish people.

Application: Contemplate that each Mitzvah that you perform is a formula that yields supreme spiritual wealth. All that is required of us is to prepare and purify ourselves to receive His light through Torah and Mitzvot. If we strengthen ourselves in this, HaShem in His great love, will bless us and elevate us in the most wondrous of ways.

SF - The Wonders of Health \ Duties of the Heart

Refuah Shleimah for Dovid ben Rachel

The Wonders of Health \ Duties of the Heart

D'var Torah: Amongst the many wonders of HaShem that are found in the body is the miraculous digestive system. Four divergent powers work harmoniously together to perfectly carry out this process in the proper order. Firstly, HaShem creates the esophagus with the power to safely draw the food into the stomach. Secondly, the stomach retains the food in place so that the digestive process can take place. Thirdly, the stomach dissolves the solid food into a liquid, extracts the good elements from the waste, and sends the nutrition to all parts of the body. Lastly, the body efficiently expels the waste so that it does not endanger our health.

Moral: In His unbounded kindness, HaShem oversees the four powers of digestion that our bodies carry our automatically to supply our bodies with good nutrition. If any one of these powers were to fail, G-d forbid, we would be in great danger. How great is the kindness of HaShem, Who performs constant miracles to maintain our health and keep us alive.

Application: Take a moment before or after eating to reflect on the four wonderful powers of digestion. Thank HaShem for providing you with nutritious food, and the miraculous wonder of digestion. Feel the inner joy of recognizing the love and kindness of HaShem, Who safeguards and oversees our life-giving nutrition and the invaluable gift of health.

SF - The Shechinah Dwells Within Our Souls \ Parashat Terumah -- Chodesh Tov!

Refuah Shleimah for Dovid ben Rachel

The Shechinah Dwells Within Our Souls \ Parashat Terumah

D'var Torah: "And they shall make for Me a sanctuary and I will dwell in their midst" (Shemot 25:8). HaShem loves Klal Yisrael with unbounded love and wants the light of the Shechinah to dwell upon their souls. Yet, how could the human soul, even the holiest of souls, merit to be so closely connected to HaShem, the Holy One blessed be He? In light of this, HaShem gave us His holy Torah to serve as an intermediary between HaShem and our souls. HaShem attaches the holy Shechinah to the Torah. In turn, HaShem commands us to attach ourselves to Torah study and observance. By consciously attaching ourselves to the Torah, we connect ourselves to the Shechinah, which perpetually dwells within the Torah.

Moral: HaShem opens the gates of holiness for Klal Yisrael through our connection to Torah, as the verse says, "I will dwell in their midst."

Application: Reflect on the wonder that the holy Shechinah is connected to every word and letter of the Torah. When you engage in Torah study or Mitzvah observance be aware that you are connecting your soul to the holy Shechinah. Sense the holiness of HaShem flow into your being through your attachment to Torah, elevating, purifying, and enlightening your soul
