Refuah Shleimah for Dovid ben Rachel
The Wonders of Health \ Duties of the Heart D'var Torah: Amongst the many wonders of HaShem that are found in the body is the miraculous digestive system. Four divergent powers work harmoniously together to perfectly carry out this process in the proper order. Firstly, HaShem creates the esophagus with the power to safely draw the food into the stomach. Secondly, the stomach retains the food in place so that the digestive process can take place. Thirdly, the stomach dissolves the solid food into a liquid, extracts the good elements from the waste, and sends the nutrition to all parts of the body. Lastly, the body efficiently expels the waste so that it does not endanger our health.
Moral: In His unbounded kindness, HaShem oversees the four powers of digestion that our bodies carry our automatically to supply our bodies with good nutrition. If any one of these powers were to fail, G-d forbid, we would be in great danger. How great is the kindness of HaShem, Who performs constant miracles to maintain our health and keep us alive. Application: Take a moment before or after eating to reflect on the four wonderful powers of digestion. Thank HaShem for providing you with nutritious food, and the miraculous wonder of digestion. Feel the inner joy of recognizing the love and kindness of HaShem, Who safeguards and oversees our life-giving nutrition and the invaluable gift of health. (Based on Chovot HaLevovot, Shaa'r Bechinah)
Each year on Rav Yisrael's yarzeit, we ask our subscibers to send us names and email addresses of their friends and family members who will be enriched by our daily lessons. Please send in the names and emails of your friends to salantorg@gmail.com
The Salant Foundation is currently looking for a Shul or community to partner with us in sharing the merit of the unique and important Salant Kollel. There are practical and easy ways (such as adoptakollel.org) to create a special mutual relationship between the Kollel and a Shul or community. If you think your shul or community or even workplace might want to participate in supporting the Salant Kollel, please contact Rabbi Zvi Miller at salantorg@gmail.com, and we'll discuss how to go about implementing your idea. Thank you. |
