De Olho em Nosso Ego!

SF - They Are Sweet to My Palate

A good educator clearly and systematically explains the concepts that he is teaching. He wants his students to thoroughly understand the reasoning behind the concept so that their minds will grasp, accept, and internalize the idea. After he has proven his wisdom and integrity to his students, he will occasionally present them with a concept without explaining it. He wants his students to accept it based on the trust that he has earned.

HaShem is the "master pedagogue." He supplies a thorough and deep explanation for most of the Mitzvoth in the Torah. However, he also deliberately concealed the reason for a few of the Mitzvoth. For instance, HaShem did not reveal the understanding of the Mitzvoth of "The Red Heifer."

Since most of our study involves the Mitzvoth that HaShem did explain, the more we study them, the more sweet they become. Once we have developed the great love for the Mitzvoth, HaShem presents us with a few Chukim, (i.e., Mitzvoth that HaShem has not revealed the reason.) We accept the validity of the Chukim based on our deep appreciation of the truth and beauty that we have learned concerning the other Mitzvoth.

In summation, there is a relationship between understanding Torah and building trust in HaShem. The brilliance and perfection of the Mitzvoth that we understand encourages us to trust in HaShem and His Torah. The purpose of Chukim is to extend our trust in HaShem, even in Mitzvoth that we do not understand. In this way, we will perform all of the Mitzvoth with trust in HaShem's wisdom.

King Solomon said, "They are sweet to my palate, they are all delightful." The phrase, "They are sweet to my palate," refers to the Mitzvoth that we understand. Meaning, the Torah's explanation of the Mitzvoth makes them very "sweet to my soul." Whereas the phrase, "they are all delightful" refers to the Chukim. Even though we do not understand them, "they are all delightful." Since we know the revealed Mitzvoth of the Torah are "sweet," we are confident that the unrevealed Mitzvoth are just as "delightful."

A Alegria Depende do Foco!

SF - My Son, Give Me Your Heart

Korah accused Moshe of favoritism because Moshe appointed his own brother, Aaron to be the High Priest. Korach gathered a few hundred prominent people and lead a futile rebellion against Moshe. Korah felt he was standing up for truth and justice. However, his real motivation was jealousy. He felt slighted because Moshe appointed one of Korach's younger relatives. It is important to point out that Korach was a wise and righteous man. The jealousy that drove him was subconscious and he did not detect it, whatsoever. Yet, if Korach didn't realize that jealousy stirred his actions, why is he culpable? Korach was responsible to introspect and recognize the latent jealousy that moved him to fight against Moshe.

We can overcome the influence of inner feelings by being aware that they have the power to influence our behavior. This realization inspires us to look deeply within ourselves to make sure that our motivations our pure. We can keep our feelings in check by fully devoting our hearts to HaShem, as King Solomon said,. "My son, give Me your heart."

Envision Korach contending with Moshe and ultimately being disgraced. Note how subconscious feelings caused his downfall. Make an inner resolve to dedicate you heart wholly to HaShem. You will be protected from making costly mistakes and blessed with success, peace of mind, and inner joy.

SF - Place Your Trust In the Infinite One

"The oneness of the Infinite One, may He be blessed, is that His Will, alone exists. There is no other will other than His. Therefore, He alone rules over everything and not any other will. The structure of Creation is built on this foundation." The Oneness of HaShem is that He is the supreme and only Will. Although the lion attacks its prey, and nations triumph over their foes, these outcomes are determined solely by the Divine Will. Indeed, everything in the universe -- from the angels above, to the birth of a baby upon the earth -- are in HaShem's absolute control.

It is futile to trust in any force other than HaShem, for the Divine Will, alone, rules over the entire universe.

Review this fundamental principle: "The oneness of the Infinite One, may He be blessed, is that His Will, alone exists. There is no other will other than His. Therefore, He alone rules over everything and not any other will. The structure of Creation is built on this foundation." Repeat it aloud to yourself so that the words integrate into your heart. Internalize the concept that every force other than HaShem is an illusion. Place your trust in the Infinite One, for His Will, alone, is Supreme.
