SF - The Wonder of One Minute

"HaShem rescues us as quickly as the wink of an eye." Had we remained in Egypt for one more minute we would have slipped into the fiftieth level of impurity. Had that occurred, we would have been lost forever. Thankfully, HaShem saved us from abolishment in the last minute. In one minute, we went from death to life, from darkness to light, from pain to happiness, from slavery to freedom. Why did HaShem wait until the final minute to save us from such a terrible fate? HaShem revealed to us the very secret of faith and trust in HaShem: Never give up trusting in HaShem!

Each and every "small" minute of time holds the same power of goodness and salvation that awakened our spectacular redemption from Egypt.

Envision that you and your family are slaves in Egypt. Imagine HaShem suddenly reveals Himself with amazing kindness and compassion. In a moments time, you, your family, and all of Klal Yisrael go from slavery to freedom. May the awareness that every minute of our life has the potential to deliver us from darkness to light, inspire us to always trust in HaShem.

SF - The Power of Visualiztion

The Passover Haggadah instructs us as follows: "Every person is required to imagine himself as if he experienced the miraculous Exodus from Egypt." We are not expected to visualize the actual redemption because we do not have real-time memories of the event. However, imagining ourselves as Jewish slaves in Egypt at the time of the great Exodus, as best we can, helps us bring the miraculous redemption to life. The power of personalizing the visualization strengthens our faith in HaShem, His unbounded love for Klal Yisrael, and His mastery of the universe. Even more, it fills us with new dimensions of joy, trust, and love for HaShem.

The technique of visualizing our personal redemption from Egypt helps us experience the joy of knowing HaShem's infinite love for Klal Yisrael.

Envision yourself and your family as slaves in Egypt. Sense the hardship of labor and the lack of freedom, under the Egyptian oppressors. Imagine HaShem miraculously rescuing you from your servitude. Sense the elation of your soul as it experiences holiness, freedom, and gratitude to HaShem.

(Based on Chochmah U'Mussar of the Saba M'Kelm)

SF - The Symbolism of Matzah

"Why do we eat Matzah? They baked the dough which they brought out of Egypt into unleavened bread, because they were driven out of Egypt." After 210 years of Egyptian bondage, HaShem performed great miracles and redeemed us from Egypt. Yet, at the time of our redemption, the Egyptians drove us out of their land. Doesn't this expulsion diminish the glory of our liberation? HaShem had an intense desire to reveal the Shechinah to Klal Yisrael. However, the Shechinah could not be revealed in the spiritually polluted environment of Egypt. Therefore, as soon as the moment of redemption arrived, HaShem quickly brought us out of Egypt so that He could reveal the light of the holy Shechinah upon Klal Yisrael.

When we eat Matzah on Pesach, we remember how much HaShem loves us and desires to be close to us. Like a man anxiously waiting to give a gift to his beloved, so too, HaShem yearned to shower us with His love, holiness, and peace.

Internalize the message of Pesach. As we wait for the final redemption, remember that HaShem longs to be reunited with His beloved people. He yearns to bestow His light and love upon every Jewish soul. When our final redemption comes, it will come in a flash of time. The Shechinah will dwell amongst Klal Yisrael forever, and "our mouths will be filled with laughter and our tongues with joyous song."

May you have a Chag Kosher V'Sameach!
