My Heart Rejoices \ Tehillim 28:7
D'var Torah: "HaShem is my shield and my strength, my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped, and my heart rejoices, and I thank Him with my song" (Psalms 28:7). King David affirms that HaShem is the source of his protection and his strength, and he places his heartfelt trust in HaShem, alone. When HaShem saves David from trouble, King David expresses happiness and gratitude to HaShem, "and my heart rejoices, and I thank Him with my song."
Moral: Our reaction when we are saved from trouble, reveals whether our trust in HaShem is strong or lacking. If a person's trust is not sincere, he will chalk up good fortune to circumstance. Whereas, if a person's trust in HaShem is strong and real, he rejoices in HaShem when he is saved from trouble. Application: Envision King David sincerely praying to Hashem, before battling Goliath. Sense his hope and confidence in Hashem. See him hurl the stone that slays Goliath. Hear King David sing joyous songs of thankfullness and praise to HaShem. Transpose King David's steadfast trust to your heart, and rejoice in HaShem. The Salant Foundation is currently looking for a Shul or community to partner with us in sharing the merit of the unique and important Salant Kollel. There are practical and easy ways (such as adoptakollel.org) to create a special mutual relationship between the Kollel and a Shul or community. If you think your shul or community or even workplace might want to participate in supporting the Salant Kollel, please contact Rabbi Zvi Miller at salantorg@gmail.com, and we'll discuss how to go about implementing your idea.
