SF - Why Was the Territory of Menashe Split Into Two Parts

The land inheritance of the tribe of Manashe was divided into two sections, straddled on either side of the Jordan River. The reason for the separation goes back to the time that Yoseph sent his son, Menashe, to accuse the brothers of stealing Yoseph's silver goblet. When the planted cup was found in Binyamin's sack, the brother's ripped their clothes in mourning. Since Menashe caused anguish to the brother's, generations later his tribe was split, just as he caused the brothers to rip their garments.

Even though Menashe was fulfilling his father's will, he was held accountable for the distress that he caused to Yoseph's brothers. HaShem implores us to be careful in our interactions with others, regardless of the situation and circumstance.
