HaShem Is My Light \ The Joy of Freedom D'var Torah: "Even though I sit in darkness, HaShem is my light" (Micha 7:8). The beginning of the redemption of Klal Yisrael from Egypt started at night with the slaying of the first-born Egyptians. Yet, Klal Yisrael did not actually leave Egypt until the following morning." If a prisoner is informed that the king orders his release, he will not taste the joy of freedom until he actually leaves the gates of the prison. In contrast, Klal Yisrael, experienced the joy of freedom in the night, even though they were still inside Egypt, surrounded by Pharaoh and his powerful army. The supreme joy of the revelation of the holy Shechinah and the great wisdom of Moshe Rabenu, gave Klal Yisrael the confidence to celebrate their freedom, even before they exited the gates of Egypt.
Moral: The joy of knowing that HaShem actively oversees our lives as well as the light of Torah that illuminates the path of goodness, inspires us with the faith and trust today, to rejoice in our ultimate final redemption. Application: Reflect on the miracles of HaShem that constantly surround you. Consider the amazing miracle of Eretz Yisrael today: a thriving country, with millions of Jewish People, after two thousand years of exile. Rejoice in trusting in HaShem that the "beginning of our redemption" will surely culminate with the Geulah Shleimah, soon and within our days. (Based on Brachot 12b, M'harshah) The Salant Foundation is currently looking for a Shul or community to partner with us in sharing the merit of the unique and important Salant Kollel. There are practical and easy ways (such as adoptakollel.org) to create a special mutual relationship between the Kollel and a Shul or community. If you think your Shul or community or workplace might want to participate in supporting the Salant Kollel, please contact Rabbi Zvi Miller at salantorg@gmail.com, and we will discuss how to implement your idea. Thank you! |
