SF - The Most Precious Gift \ The Wisdom of the Talmud

The Most Precious Gift \ The Wisdom of the Talmud
“I have given you a goodly possession, do not leave My Torah.”
(Mishlei 4:2)
D'var Torah:  When someone sells something that has sentimental value, he is usually sad to part with his possession. Yet, when HaShem gave Klal Yisrael the Torah, His most precious possession, HaShem rejoiced! How do we know that HaShem rejoiced when He gave us the Torah? If someone sells an item and he asks the buyer not to sell it to anyone else, it shows that the will of the seller is for the item stay with the buyer. The verse states, “I have given you a goodly possession, do not leave My Torah.” Since HaShem pleads with us, “Do not leave My Torah,” this reveals that He is happy and wants us to have and keep the Torah.

Moral: We are fortunate that in HaShem's great love for us, He gave us the precious Torah with great joy! Therefore, we are inspired to study and keep the Torah with all of our hearts.

Application: Envision HaShem giving you the Torah at Mount Sinai. Hear Him tell you, “I have give you a goodly possession, do not leave My Torah.” Sense HaShem’s great joy in giving you His precious Torah. Increase your honor, joy, and appreciation of the Torah. Strengthen your commitment to learn and practice the Torah.
