D'var Torah: Most of us wonder, "Why did HaShem send me to this world?" Judaism tells us that our life-mission is to fulfill the Torah. The more we enrich ourselves in Torah knowledge, the better we will be able to accomplish our mission. However, there is another critical question that we need to address. What is the ultimate purpose of fulfilling the Mitzvot? Of course, Mitzvot elevate us and enhance our lives with beauty and goodness. However, there is even a higher purpose of Mitzvot that takes place in the future. Amazingly, HaShem created us to enjoy the Splendor of the Divine Light, the only true goodness. HaShem designates the spiritual World to Come, as the place for us to delight in HaShem's Presence. The Mitzvot that we do in this world produce our reward in the eternal World to Come! Therefore, we attain true happiness by focusing on the supreme delight that we earn through our doing of Mitzvot.
Moral: The key to happiness is to continually reflect on the wonderous pleasure that HaShem will grant us in The World to Come as a reward for the Mitzvot that we perform.
Application: Contemplate on the miracle that HaShem's Will is to grant you the supreme pleasure of delighting in the Splendor of Divine Presence, forever. As you engage in a Mitzvah, imagine that HaShem is depositing vast fortunes in your spiritual bank account. Envision entering your palace in Olam HaBah emanating with light, holiness, and eternal life.
