The literal meaning of the phrase "Lech Lechah" is, "Go to yourself." In this light, HaShem told Avram, "Go to yourself," meaning, elevate yourself to the beautiful goodness of your pure and holy essence. HaShem "gave permission" to Avraham to transcend above the material influences of human nature and experience his inherent spirituality, wisdom, and goodness. So too, the inner core of every person is his holy soul, that radiates kindness, understanding, and light.
