SF - A Prayer for World Peace

A Prayer for World Peace

"Rabbi Chaninam the deputy Kohen Gadol says: Pray for the peace of the government." (Avos 3:2) The ideal expressed by this teaching is to pray for world peace and to empathize with the suffering of others. One of the defining characteristics of a good person is his love and care for all of HaShem's creations. For example, King David even prayed for his enemies when they were ill! When the governments are in a state of peace, then peace prevails in the world. The quality of life of people, in general and in particular, will be uplifted and enhanced. In this light, the Torah advices us to "pray for peace of the governments."

It is admirable to care about the welfare of mankind. Therefore, it is fitting to pray for all of humanity to live peacefully together.

Envision all the nations of the world living in peace, both domestically as well as with each other. Pray for the peace of Israel, as well as, for peace between all the nations of the world. Attain inner peace by yearning for universal peace and fellowship.
