SF - Take Care of Your Soul

Rabbi Yisrael Salanter formulated a unique and powerful definition for the term "Mesirat Nefesh" or "Going Beyond." Usually the term is used to describe the great effort that someone makes to help others, or to dedicate himself to Torah study, or a particular Mitzvah.

Rabbi Yisrael Salanter defined "Mesirat Nefesh" as going beyond to take care of yourself! Make the maximum effort to care of yourself spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

If you have a precious diamond you don't leave it on the kitchen table. You keep it locked in special safe or jewellery box. So too, HaShem gave us a very precious soul. Therefore, we must make the maximum effort to take care of ourselves, so that our soul stays happy, healthy, and wholesome.
May the souls who left this world be remembered for a blessing.
