"Moshe received the Torah from Sinai" (Avos 1:1). We might assume that the essential knowledge of Torah is the masterful comprehension of Torah law. However, the "Torah of Truth" refers to a different aspect of the Sinai experience. The most significant knowledge that Moshe attained at Mount Sinai was a clear awareness of HaShem, the Almighty Creator. Indeed, HaShem revealed to Moshe the highest level of His holiness and light. This awareness of HaShem is called the "Torah of Sinai." Torah wisdom pertains not only to the knowledge of the law but, even more importantly, to the invaluable awareness of knowing HaShem. The "Torah of Sinai" is characterized by knowing HaShem's infinite kindness, awesome power, and pure holiness. Knowing the truth of the Torah is attaining real awe and love of HaShem.
The revelation of HaShem at Mount Sinai to Klal Yisrael was the most significant event in the history of humanity. The very essence of the Torah pulsates with this precious awareness. Therefore, the knowledge of HaShem is accessible to every person through Torah study. The more we sensitize ourselves to know the greatness of HaShem through Torah study, the more we grasp the very essence of the "Torah of Sinai."
Envision yourself standing at Mount Sinai with Moshe Rabenu and all of Klal Yisrael. Hear HaShem declare, "I am the Lo-rd your G-d, Who took you out of the land of Egypt." See the flame of fire rising from the mountain unto the heart of Heaven. Hear the sound of the Shofar and envision the trembling of Mount Sinai. Sense the awe of standing in the Holy Presence of HaShem, the Almighty Creator of Heaven and earth. (Based on the commentary of the Seforno to Pirkei Avos)
