| “The Torah is sweeter than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb” (Tehillim 19:11).
The question arises, why does King David liken the sweetness of Torah to honey? The arbiters rule that the sweetness of honey is so powerful that it converts the legs of the bees that are mixed in the honey into honey! Therefore the legs of the bees do not render the honey non-Kosher.
King David compared the Torah to honey to convey that the sweetness of Torah transforms the students of Torah into a living Torah, just as honey converts the legs of bees into honey!
What’s more, if honey converts the bees into honey, surely Torah, which is “sweeter than honey” transforms a person into an entity of Torah.
Torah study also brings a person close to HaShem, as the the Zohar reveals, “Klal Yisrael, Torah, and HaShem are united into one actuality.”
The Torah states, “And you shall derive life from the Torah" (Vayikra 18:5). There is no greater “life” than a human being transforming into an entity of Torah and attaching himself to HaShem, the Source of Life and the Source of Blessings.
