SF - # Surrounded By Divine Light

The Festival of Sukkos is known in our tradition as Z’man Simchaseinu — “The Time of Our Rejoicing.” This profound joy is rooted in the forty years that our ancestors spent in the wilderness, enveloped and protected by the miraculous Clouds of Glory.

Through these Clouds, HaShem radiated His Divine light and holiness upon the People of Israel. His Presence dwelt among them tangibly, and His splendor filled their souls with the deepest spiritual delight. That sublime closeness — living each day surrounded by His glory — is the essence of “The Time of Our Rejoicing.”

Each year, during Sukkos, that same Divine illumination returns and becomes accessible once again. As we sit beneath the schach — the natural covering of our Sukkah — we are not merely fulfilling a mitzvah; we are recreating the spiritual reality of those sacred Clouds of Glory. HaShem’s Presence rests upon us, just as it did upon our ancestors in the desert.

May we rejoice in the radiant splendor of HaShem that shines upon us in the Sukkah, just as our forefathers rejoiced in His presence that emanated from the Clouds of Glory in days past.

Today: As you sit in your Sukkah, rejoice with the awareness that HaShem is shining His Divine Light into your soul.
