The Daily Dedication
"Speak to Aaron and say to him: 'When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall cast their light toward the face of the Menorah.'" (Numbers 8:2)
When the twelve princes of the tribes of Israel were invited to inaugurate the Mishkan (Tabernacle), Aaron HaKohen realized that neither he nor his tribe were included in the ceremonies. He felt deeply despondent. Seeing his distress, HaShem comforted him: "Aaron, your portion will be even more precious than theirs. You will light and attend to the kindling of the Menorah."
The Ohr HaChaim raises a powerful question: How did this promise truly comfort Aaron? The dedication of the Altar by the princes was a historic, inaugural event. Lighting the Menorah, by contrast, was a standard daily service. How does a daily routine answer a longing for a historic dedication?
The Ohr HaChaim explains that the lamps were actually distinct, removable components of the structure, as the verse implies: "The Menorah and its lamps." Every single day, Aaron would physically remove the lamps, clean them, and restore them to their places. By doing so, Aaron wasn't just performing routine maintenance—he was literally resetting and re-dedicating the Menorah anew each morning. The princes dedicated the Altar once; Aaron was given the privilege to dedicate the Menorah every single day.
Whenever we are troubled by our own spiritual shortcomings, we can find comfort here. HaShem recognizes our inner yearning. When we genuinely care about our spiritual lack, He opens new doors for us to elevate our growth. Be aware of that inner desire to advance—and ask HaShem to grant you your own daily renewal.

The Realization: Watch the flame catch the fresh wick, casting its light forward. Know that right now, in this very moment, you have completely restarted and re-dedicated your entire spiritual path for the day ahead.
