The Ultimate Merit
Even if a person has fulfilled the Mitzvos and performed many good deeds, it does not suffice to earn a share of eternal life in Gan Eden. Rather, the unbounded kindness of HaShem grants him the incomparable gift of eternal life. However, there is one Mitzvah, alone, that does give a person the merit to earn an eternal share in Gan Eden. That is, the Mitzvah of sharing the light of Torah with other people! When a person strengthens others in Torah, performs the Mitzvos, and has trust in HaShem -- HaShem considers him worthy of receiving a share of eternal delight in Gan Eden.
Lesson: The core principle of the Torah is: "Love your friend as you love yourself." Therefore, when a person demonstrates his love by sharing Torah with his fellow man, he has grasped the very essence of Torah. HaShem considers him worthy on his own accord of receiving his eternal portion in the World to Come. (Chovos HaLavavos, Sha'ar Bitachon)
